Collection: Ceramic Studio Kotori
"Kotori," meaning "little bird," is the creation of ceramic artist Mr. Morinaga, whose works embody the relaxed and free-spirited essence of Okinawa. His ceramics evoke the feeling of listening to a bird's song, leaving one refreshed and delighted. Known for his unique and whimsical style, his pieces are often described as "storytelling ceramic coffee cups."
Mr. Morinaga moved from Nagasaki to Okinawa in 1998 and, in 2001, studied under Toshiaki Kinjo, the son of the renowned ceramic artist Jiro Kinjo, who is considered a "Living National Treasure." In 2008, Mr. Morinaga established his studio, "Kobo Kotori no."
Mr. Morinaga's mugs are distinguished by their abstract landscape designs and the thoughtful craftsmanship that ensures a comfortable drinking experience. The rims of the cups are made particularly thick, enhancing the comfort of the user. These characteristics have made his mugs popular in many distinctive coffee shops across Okinawa.
